Sushi Maki

Lots of changes have made their way to the Brickell area. First up in Sushi Maki’s big move.... to the other side of the street, where it will be taking over the former Momi Gyoza space at 1036 South Miami Avenue. This will make the restaurant double in size, according to a press release. It’ll be a mash up of fast casual and regular sit-down dining, where guests will order at a counter then take a seat to be served on by a waiter. With the new space comes new menu items too like sushi "burritos" and the trendy shaved ice cream. [EaterWire]

Miami Smokers is making its way down to Brickell for the summer with a pop-up in the former Sushi Maki space at 1000 South Miami Avenue. Running from June 13 to mid-September it’ll be a teaser of what is to come at it’s new market location at Miami Central Station. The menu will be similar to that of their Little Havana outpost with plenty of meat-filled sandwiches on the menu. [Miami New Times]
